Malzonen Purple Demon on perhokuvio, joka on suunniteltu tarponkalastukseen. Siinä on täydellisesti yhteensopiva värillinen profiili, joka vetoaa kalastajiin, jotka tavoittelevat näitä voimakkaita riistakaloja.
The purple profile is spot-on for what a tarpon expects to chase, and it cast smoothly right out of the package. Flew through a dozen blind casts without the hook fouling once, which is rare in my box. Water slapped it hard on the third strip and that fish ran like it owed me money.
Tied one on before sunrise and the profile sat perfectly in the water on the first cast—that purple silhouette really stands out when the tarpon are keyed in. Landed three solid fish before the tide turned, and the fly held its shape through all the hookups and head shakes.
I was skeptical about the color profile at first, but on the water this pattern really does have that perfect silhouette the tarpon seem to key in on. Cast it into a school on the flats and the take was immediate, the profile held up great after a few hard fights.
