Tied these on a size 12 prince nymph and they held up great through a full day of bouncing off rocks. The heavy wire really helps get the fly down fast in deeper runs, which is exactly what I needed for big trout.
That curved shank holds the beadhead bead perfectly on my size 10 stonefly ties. Heavy wire means I can put real pressure on big trout without worrying about the hook bending out. Only downside is they're a bit thick for small patterns.
Tied up a batch of big stonefly nymphs on these and they sink fast and track straight through the riffle. The curved shank keeps the profile looking natural, and I haven't had one bend out on a decent trout yet.
