The spring tension on these is spot on, so hackle feathers don't slip or get crushed while I'm wrapping them. I've tied about a dozen soft hackles this week and haven't mangled a single one yet.

Tying size 20 midges used to mean crushing hackle feathers between my fingers, but these pliers grab the tip without mangling a single barb. The fine tips give me way more control wrapping delicate CDC than the blunt ones I've used for years.

These hold hackle feathers way more gently than my old cheap pair, no more snapping the tips off mid-wrap. The grip feels solid without me having to squeeze hard, which helps a lot on smaller dry flies. Honestly didn't expect pliers to make this much difference at the vise.
